Panerai Celebrates Heritage and Community in New York City
New York City set the stage of two exciting Panerai events, with the opening of "The Depths of Time" exhibition on 9th October followed by the P-Day celebration, the renowned international gathering of Paneristi worldwide.
Following its enduring success in Florence, "The Depths of Time" exhibition has arrived at the Casa Panerai on Madison Avenue, inaugurating the travelling concept with an exciting preview event on 8th October that saw the participation of key US editors and VICs. Open for a month until November 9th, the exhibition offers visitors an immersive experience into Panerai's heritage as a supplier of professional instruments to the Royal Italian Navy. Through previously unseen archival materials – including personal correspondence, technical drawings, early catalogs, original historical photographs, and instruments like compasses and depth gauges – the exhibition traces Panerai's pioneering work in luminosity and underwater readability, from its role as a key supplier to the Royal Italian Navy to its civilian unveiling on September 10th, 1993.
With presentations in Florence, Miami, and Shanghai, "The Depths of Time" illuminates three continents, celebrating a secret unveiled 32 years ago that continues to captivate audiences worldwide.
The New York celebrations culminated on October 10th with Panerai CEO Emmanuel Perrin attending the P-Day celebration, marking the 25th anniversary of a community now encompassing over 30,000 members across 50 hubs. To commemorate this significant milestone, Panerai released the Luminor Venticinque PAM02025 early last year. This special edition was crafted in close collaboration with Padraig Conway “Paddy”, Paneristi founding member, directly involved in the design process.
The PAM02025, named in honor of the 25th anniversary, draws inspiration from the Luminor PAM00127 reference from 2003, a model highly regarded among Paneristi and affectionately known as "Fiddy," a reference to the "1950" inscription on its dial.
This new timepiece features a 44mm brunito steel case paired with a blue gradient sandwich dial, beige Super-LumiNova® X1, and a domed sapphire crystal – a clear homage to the Maison’s 1960s models created for the Italian Navy, where domed plexiglass enhanced dial readability. Other historical elements include the golden-colored pencil-style hands, which provide an elegant contrast against the blue dial, and a lever bridge mounted downwards. On earlier models developed for the Italian military, the lever was sometimes mounted in reverse, facilitating easier operation of the winding mechanism for divers. This detail is another nod to the historical tradition of Panerai’s military watches and their characteristic functional design. The lever bridge of the crown-protecting device bears the inscription ‘Paneristi,’ and the see-through smoked crystal case back is adorned with the Paneristi 25th-anniversary logo
The PAM02025 is powered by the P.6000 caliber, a manual-wind movement with a 3-day power reserve, offering a more engaging experience for the wearer. It boasts water resistance up to 30 BAR (~300 meters) and is complemented by a vintage calf leather strap with a brunito trapezoidal buckle.
